Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its results. We do not retain those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If you email us, the message may be kept long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It is not shared outside our organization unless disclosure is legally required.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server and analytics logs can collect technical facts about a visit, including:
- IP address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on them
- Referring website, when supplied
- Date and time of each request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies and analytics services help measure traffic, performance, and page use. A browser can reject cookies, although doing so may change how some features behave. Aggregated analytics may show which pages are useful without creating a criminal-record file about a visitor.
What We Do With This Data
- Operate, maintain, and secure the website
- Route a voluntary search to the selected partner
- Measure page use and technical performance
- Diagnose errors and prevent abuse
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site explains where Ozaukee County records may be held by the Clerk, Sheriff, municipal police, Wisconsin DOJ Crime Information Bureau, Wisconsin DOC, and Wisconsin Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor data are not assembled into consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the provider's privacy policy, retention practices, and terms, not solely by this policy. Review that provider's notice before starting a search because we do not control how it processes submitted information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Ozaukee County offices, Wisconsin courts, state agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves this website, the destination's privacy policy applies. Advertising companies may also use their own systems to measure activity across websites.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal information is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search providers handling a query a visitor chooses to submit
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and site function
- Advertising networks serving ads
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under valid legal process
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used for information in our control. No internet service can promise perfect security, so a breach or unauthorized access can never be ruled out completely.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If information from a minor is identified, a deletion request may be submitted.
Your Data Rights
Rights may depend on where a visitor lives and which law applies. Wisconsin's Public Records Law, Wis. Stat. §19.35, governs access to qualifying government records, while Wis. Stat. §165.83 addresses criminal-identification information reported to the state. Those statutes govern agencies and do not convert this private site into a public-record custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor may:
- Request access to personal data we hold
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request deletion of eligible data
- Object to or opt out of certain processing
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. A replacement becomes effective when posted here with its revised date.
